Managing Partner
Gary Katz is a healthcare entrepreneur with proven expertise and success in the physical therapy space.
In 2000, Gary took a leap of faith and left his position as Regional Vice President at HealthSouth to open his own physical therapy practice. Gary grew Maryland SportsCare & Rehab from a sole outpatient clinic to over 30 locations plus an athletic training outreach program that served school districts and youth sports organizations throughout Maryland. At the same time, Gary co-founded and operated PT Network, a partnership of other privately-owned physical therapy practices, which grew to over 20 locations throughout Delaware, Northern Virginia, Washington, DC and West Virginia.
In 2013, Gary orchestrated a private equity investment of Maryland SportsCare & Rehab and PT Network which resulted in the creation of Pivot Health Solutions. Pivot has a current national footprint of over 250 outpatient physical therapy clinics and an occupational health division which was acquired by Athletico in 2022. Gary served as Pivot’s first Chief Executive Officer before shifting to Chief Growth Officer and Senior Executive Advisor. Gary also served on Pivot’s Board of Directors.
Gary is currently co-founder of Kinect Partners which manages and operates a partnership of physical therapy practices in Florida and New England. In addition to outpatient clinics, the partnership includes rehabilitation services at senior living communities.
Gary’s success comes from his strong business acumen and ability to network for the mutual good. He is an active investor in emerging healthcare technologies and services and is a strong supporter of the Diabetes Research Institute and D-Skate, a program that supports youth hockey players with Type 1 diabetes. Earlier in his career, Gary was a consulting physical therapist to the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League.
Gary graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy and Athletic Training.
Managing Partner
Greg Smith is a nationally recognized Athletic Trainer with over 24 years of experience in professional sports, including 18 seasons with the Washington Capitals. He is an entrepreneur, business owner, and investor with a proven healthcare and wellness portfolio.
In 2002—while still working as Head Athletic Trainer for the Caps— Greg co-founded Professional SportsCare & Rehab, an outpatient physical therapy practice that grew to 20 locations in Maryland, Northern Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Greg leveraged his sports medicine expertise and network to build the company’s Athletic Training outreach program which became a premier service to the region’s youth, scholastic, collegiate and professional sports teams. Under Greg’s direction, Professional SportsCare & Rehab was the physical therapy provider-of-choice for many professional athletes.
In 2013, Greg joined PT Network, a partnership of other privately-owned physical therapy practices, and helped orchestrate a private equity investment in Professional SportsCare & Rehab. This resulted in the creation of Pivot Health Solutions. Pivot has a current national footprint of over 250 outpatient physical therapy clinics and an occupational health division which was acquired by Athletico in 2022. Greg served as Pivot’s first Chief Marketing Officer and was also a Senior Executive Advisor.
Greg retired from the Capitals in 2018. His span in professional sports, which also included stints with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks and the Baltimore Bandits of the American Hockey League, feeds his philosophy of building strong business teams with a unified goal to win. He is an Athletic Training consultant to collegiate athletic programs, including University of Maryland. Greg also sits on the Board of Directors of the Joshua M. Freeman Foundation, which promotes the performing arts.
Greg is currently co-founder of Kinect Partners which manages and operates a partnership of physical therapy practices in Florida and New England. In addition to outpatient clinics, the partnership includes rehabilitation services at senior living communities.
Greg holds a Master of Science degree in Athletic Training from the California University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education with concentrations in Special Education and Athletic Training from Salisbury State University.
“WE ARE COMMITTED TO BUILDING A LONG-TERM PARTNERSHIP BUILT
